This is my safe and favorite place to go to when I am in NC. I will keep going here til the day I die. It holds special meaning to me as I will keep to myself but who know maybe one day I will ask if I can marry the Love of my life at this very special lodge and cabins!!! You have to go there though to experience it for yourself. Words cannot express the beauty here at Singletree!! Thanks also to the staff!! Love them.

This place is absolutely stunning. Comfort, elegance, and nature, combined with an outstanding view. Who knew we had mountains like this only an hour from Greensboro!

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a weekend at Singletree Gun & Plough and hope to repeat the experience soon! Not far up a humble gravel road in quaint Stokes County is this non-pretentious cabin and lodge retreat. Although the views of Moore’s Knob and the Blue Ridge Mountains from the main lodge’s front porch, where I spent many hours reading, laughing and enjoying a cold beverage with several new friends are substantial enough to allow for some boasting, the folks at Singletree are not sort the sort to put on airs. Johannah, the nature-enthusiast proprietor of the establishment, was kind enough to take a group of us on a morning hike down one of the many secluded and private trails along the property to the James River where we walked along the shoreline to greet some passing kayakers; Johannah stopping along the way to tell us about the wildlife, different plants and trees. If you are someone like myself who enjoys being outdoors, on the river or just not surrounded by crowds and concrete go see Johannah and Bill at Singletree!

My son (18) and I spent the weekend hiking in Hanging Rock State Park. We found Singletree on a google search of nearby lodging and suspected it would be a fun place to stay but had only their website to go by since, surprisingly, there were no customer reviews. This place totally blew us away! It’s a beautiful, quite comfortable lodge perched on top of their own 1000-acre mountain with spectacular views on all sides. Although they cater mostly to hunters, Johannah and Willy, the hosts, made us feel right at home. Included in the stay were refreshments in the game room and a hearty country breakfast in the morning. Although we only had time to spend one night, we left with the feeling we’d spent the weekend with lifelong friends and we eagerly look forward to a return visit.

This is a GREAT place to stay! If your destination is Hanging Rock or kayaking the Dan River, this cannot be beat! We stayed in the Bear’s Den cabin. It is a rustic cabin made out of telephone poles!! I know that sounds odd but imagine a log cabin with the logs going vertical! It has everything you need and more. Not another sole around, no other houses in view, surrounded by trees, yet it has a small clearing through which you can watch the sun rise. We loved the rocking chairs on the deck and dinner at the picnic table on the screen porch, We kayaked the Dan River – which is beautiful!! I think it may have taken us 10 minutes to get there. There are trails on the property which we hiked but Hanging Rock is also less than 10 minutes away, if you want to hike there. The view from the lodge is amazing! We walked over there in the evening to watch the sunset! Johanna and Willie are great folks doing a great thing!!
